Rage kickoff regular season with a win over the Rough Riders.
The Rage traveled five hours to La Crosse, WI this weekend to beat the River City Rough Riders in an offensive shootout, 46-41.
The Rage offense showed it's muscle on Saturday moving the ball at will by stretching the field with receiver Dre Sherill, and grinding out yards behind a veteran offensive line with running backs Chris Henagin and Hollis Dukes. Rough Rider defensive backs struggled to cover Sherill (UMD), and even with double coverage, quarterbacks David White and Keldric Stokes were able to connect at will with their big receiver.
The Rage were able to score in every area of the game. Hollis Dukes returned a second half kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown, while Maurice Henderson intercepted a pass late in the game and returned it 24 yards for a touchdown. Defensive back Spencer Cowins contributed many key defensive stops with 3 interceptions and 5 passes defended.
The Rage open up conference play this weekend against the Menomonie (WI) Thunderhawks. Game starts at 6pm at UW-Stout.
